The Mulund police has arrested a person from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh who assured people of huge business in catering sector. According to information, Mulund police got a complaint from a lady entrepreneur Namita Gupta from Fudpro about cheating in the name of growing her business through his connections. Following the complaint an offence was registered against unidentified person under section 406 and 420 of the IPC on July 25.
The investigations into the matter revealed that the accused was hiding at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. A team of the Mulund police reached Varanasi and nabbed the accused on July 29. When put to questioning, the accused confessed to have committed the crime. According to the sources, the accused had contacted the victim on her phone number through Just Dail, the business development platform. The victim runs a home made tiffin service app FUDPRO in Mumbai. The accused assured her huge business and asked her to deposit Rs 5000 in his bank account.
The investigators seized mobile phone used in the crime, bank debit card and Rs 5000 from him. The victim had paid this amount to the accused. The investigators apprehend that the accused might have cheated many other innocent entrepreneurs in the similar manner. A team of the Mulund police station comprising Senior Police Inspector Ravi Sardesai, API Tapase PSI Kadam is further investigating the matter under the supervision of ACP, Mulund Pandurang Shinde and DCP, Zone 7 Akhilesh Kumar Singh.
